The inaugural Great Northeast Cheese Fest takes place Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at Flushing Town Hall in Queens. Artisanal creameries, including Vulto Creamery, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, The Maiden’s Creamery,Cooperstown Cheese Co., and Bovina Valley Farm Creamery will be there showcasing a diverse selection of exquisite artisanal cheeses from nutty sheep’s milk tommes and sharp Cheddars to luscious triple cremes and tangy goat cheeses along with the finest wines and spirits.
Top New York City chefs, including Will Horowitz of Ducks Eatery/Harry & Ida’s, will prepare delectable dishes using the cheeses. Horowitz will be joined by Michelin-starred chef Hugue Dufour and Chef Alfonso Zhicay ofCasa del Chef Bistro. Desserts will be prepared by Judy Lai of Silk Cakesand Rudolf Merlin of Creme. Descendant Cider, Awestruck Ciders,Rooftop Reds, and Point of the Bluff Vineyards are among the fine libations that will be paired with all the glorious cheeses.
Renowned cheese expert and maître fromager Max McCalman will be on hand to educate the public and debut his cheese and wine pairing app. Max will also have books for sale at the event. In addition there will demos and workshops including a primer on how to prepare the perfect cheese plate just in time for the holidays.
All-inclusive $60 tickets entitle guests to unlimited cheese sampling and beverage pairings plus tastings from the chefs.
Additionally, there will be a limited amount of first-come, first-serve $150 VIP tickets sold, which will allow exclusive access to special earlier culinary demonstrations and discussions about cheeses from acclaimed cheese writer and maître fromager Max McCalman. VIP guests will also have early access to the rest of the festival.
