The Vendy Awards 2016 results are in!!
Over the weekend the 12th annual Vendy Awards took place. Two thousand foodies made their way over to Governors Island to celebrate street food. The Vendy Awards is an intense cook-off between the most popular sidewalk chefs in New York City and a fundraiser to support The Street Vendor Project. One chef walks away with the top honor and receive the Vendy Cup. This year the Brooklyn based Tacos el Rancho claimed that spot! A big congrats to them!
The winners in all six categories are:
The Vendy Cup: Tacos el Rancho (Tacos el Rancho makes home-style Oaxacan food.)
People’s Choice: Cachapas on Wheels (Venezuelan food)
Rookie of the Year: Mr. Bing (Traditional Chinese street food – jianbing)
Best Market Vendor: Big Mozz (hand-made mozzarella sticks)
Best Dessert Vendor: The Good Batch (Artisan ice cream sandwiches)
Best Vegan Vendor: Mysttik Masaala (Vegan home-cooked Indian food)
People’s Choice Vegan Vendor: Monk’s Meat (Vegan BBQ)
